Upper Thames Circuit.

QUARTERLY MEETING.

Thb Upper Thames Circuit Quarterly Meeting was held at Te Aroha ou October 6th. Present Rev. A, J. Reed (Superintendent) Messrs Bridgman, Feathertone (Rome Missionaries) and eleven officials.

A very hearty welcome was extended to Mr W. H. Herbert, M,A., who came to us from tbe Eltharn Circuit. The balance sheet showed a deficit of £9 7s 3d. A special trust collection was granted to the Morrinsville Trustees as they are enlarging their church and installing acetyline gas. The reports from the Sunday Schools were very satisfactory, Te Aroha specially so. for although only five scholars sat for examination yet four certificates were obtained.

Messrs W. 8. Allen and C. Rayner, after speaking of the earnest and faithful worie accomplished by the Rev. Reed, and how be was winning his way into the hearts and homes of the people gave him a cordial invitation to remain a second year. It was carried unanimously, and the Rev. Reed in a few choice words tendered his thaqks and accepted.

Mr Bridgman (Rome Missionary) received a unanimous invitation to remain for another vear at Mamalri.

Messrs W, 8, Allen, M,A„ and C, Rayner ore the representatives to Synod and Messrs W, H, Herbert, M, A,, and J. C. Allen were elected substitutes, During the session the members were summoned to the school room to partake of afternoon tea presided over by Mesdames Reed and Rayner. After the good things had been thoroughly appreciated, Mr W. S. Allen thanked the ladies for their hospitality.
