PROMENADE CONCERTS IN THE DOMAIN.

To the Editor.

Sir, —In reading your paper a short time back I noticed that two of our musical townsmen, Messrs Tom Donovan and Lew Buchan, were organising a series of open-air conceits during the summer months in the domain. In the course of a chat with the latter gentleman on the subject be informed me that several ladies and gentlemen had offered their services, and that they intended holding the first concert in November or December. The proprietors of the hotels and boarding-houses are to be asked to secure—if possible—the services of any visiting talent that may be sojourning in our midst. The concerts will be held fortnightly, or weekly if it can be arranged. Now, Sir, I think these two gentlemen deserve the hearty support of the musical people and public of Te Aroha, in their efforts to make this town more popular and attractive, and the musical people, especially, should come forward arid offer their services voluntarily. I was fortunate enough to be present at ®ne of the open-aiv concerts at Rotorua last season. The programme was given by the tourists and residents, and I must say that I never listened t > a more delightfe 1 entertainment, aud needless to say these ppen-air concerts -became deservedly popular, and were looked forward to by visitors and residents alike. We have in Te Aroha some excellent talent, of which any township might be proud, and I see no reason why wo should not equal Rotorua in this respect. In conclusion I hope that the musical talent of Te Aroha will work harmoniously together, in making this popular form of concerts one of the attractions of the place. Thanking you in anticipation, I am, etc.,

A Lover op Music,
