Borough Council Election.
MR THOS. STANLEY, SENR., ELECTED.
As will be seen by the number of votes recorded a good deal of interest was manifested in the bye* election for a seat on the Te Aroha Borough Council. Originally three candidates were nominated, but Mr Thos. Mclndoe, owing to pressure of business, retired from the contest, and left the field to ex Councillor G. Spence and Mr Thos. Stanley, senr. Mr F. W. Wild officiated as Returning Officer, and had everything in order. The services of scruitneers were dispensed with. No time was lost in the co unting of the votes, and about 8 o’clock, the result was announced as follows Thos. Stanley, senr ... 138 Geo. Spence 102 Informal 4
Mr Stanley was declared duly elected, and that gentleman briefly returned thanks to the assembled crowd for the support accorded him. He stated that he would look well after the'interests of the ratepayers, so that at the end of his term 0' : office they would have no cause to complain.
