Volunteer Notes.

Captain Tattersall reminds members of the Piako Mounted Rifles that a dismounted parade will be held at Te Aroha on Thursday , 16th inst., at 7.30 p.m.

The Waitoa Troop of the P.M.R. intend holding a Social in the Waihou Public Hall on Friday 2lth September. Everything in connection with the function is to be of the best. Tr. J. MacKenzie (hon. secretary) and a strong committee have the arrangements in hand. In connection with the Social Messrs Gordon Bros, will run a coach from Te Aroha at 7.30. District classes of instruction for the officers will be held under the supervision of Lieutenant Colonel Wolfe, officer commanding Auckland military district, from September loth to December loth throughout the district. It is possible that in between these dates a general class of instruction will be held, under the supervision of the headquarters of the staff.

Members of the Te Aroha Rifle Club have been indulging in a little rifle shooting at the range. The result goes to show that it would be fatal to stand before any of our Club shots at any of the ranges from 200yds upwards. It is about time the return match between tbe Rifle Club and the P.M.R. took place.
