Waitoa Whisperings.

(Own Correspondent)

A SOCIAL was held here on Friday, under the auspices of the Waitoa Tennis Club, and was very well attended in spite of the boisterous weather which kept away many who, would have been there if the night proved fine. The arrangements were well carried out by a committee of members of the Tennis Club, who deserve great credit for their share to the success of the evening. Miss M. Fisher presided at the piano and played the accompaniments in her usual finiehed style. She also played several .of the numerous dances being assisted by Messrs D. Curtain and Shine, and Miss Sweeney. Duets were sung by the Misees Perrott, and Miss and Master Sweeney; violin solos were played by Miss Hunt and Messrs E. Fisher and Batt contributed their quota of songs which were, as usual, well received by the compamy. Miss A. Cook gave a fine display of Indian Club swinging. Mf H- Hyde made an efficient M,C, and Mr J. Marshall made a most energetic secretary. We hear there will shortly be another social in Waitoa, but the schoolroom gets taxed to its utmost to accommodate the numerous gussts. Big prospects of another flood here.
