The Hon. Secretary of the Bowling Club (Mr Win. M.lLinan) announces that a committee meeting will be held in the Tourist Office at 8 o’clock this evening, when the election of a Match Committee and other business will take place. "We are all looking anxiously forward, to the return of Sir Joseph Ward,” said Captain Marshall, at the Civil Service Rifles concert recently. ‘‘We expect important changes as far as volunteering is concerned, and we are awaiting the scheme which Sir Joseph expects to perfect and lay before Parliament this year.”

As a sequel to the extremely cold weather of late, our majestic mountain and the surrounding high peaks were capped with snow yesterday momiug. From Waihou and the \ surrounding districts, from whence a good view of the ranges can be had, the sight was indeed picturesque, especially so when the sun shone out on the mantle of white. Messrs A. Lennard and E. Fisher (Waihou) and Barney Miller (Te Aroha) have been chosen to represent Thames iu the match against Auckland on Saturday next.
