Rogues and Vagabonds.
Christchurch, July 30. George I>evlin and Geo. Bettridge, charged with being rogues and vagabonds, before Mr Haselden, 8.M., to-day, and with being found last night dressed as policemen with fellonous intent. Devlin was arrested last night, and Bettridge this morning. A remand was asked for to make inquiries, but in reply to the Magistrate, who wanted detailv t® enable him to fix bail, the police stated the men were accused of obtaining 5s from one man and with accosting others, Devlin was arrested when attemping with his companion to rush one of the twt> plain-clothes constables who came after them, Devlin had an imitation police shake,' Accused were r e “ till Wednesday on bail of am* one surety of £lO each.
