Timaru Assault Case.

Timaru, July 14. Mr May, S.M., gave judgment this morning in the case of Patrick Gormley versus Joseph Matthews, claiming 1200 damages. Defendant, it was alleged, had been inciting Chisholm Bros., now serving sentences of imprisonment, to assault the plaintiff. Jugruent was given for plaintiff for £IOO, costs £l2 9s. The Magistrate expressed the opinion that Matthews, who swore in both the Supreme and Magistrate’s Courts that no assault took place, should be prosecuted for perjury.
