Wk arc to have a visit from an English aud American Concert organisation g known as ‘‘The Frolics.” The Company is composed of an equal number of nin e _ and female members, arc specialists in solos, concerted numbers, piano monologues, stories, and humorous sketches galore, etc. The performance of no two j J members is alike, thus affording to their entertainment a wealth of variety and ensuring a brilliant programme. Miss Alice Vaughan t is a young Californian soprano, who has f successfully sung her w r ay across America, and was recently appearing 1 with the Manhattan Opera Company, t New York. Her voice is described as i a leggerio of great purity ; in fact Madame Melba, before whom she recently sang, spoke of her voice as “Truly t remarkable and eminently suited for j opera bouffe.” . I Mr Courtney Ford commenced his j musical education as a boy chorister in St. Paul’s Cathedral, London. He was ‘ of tbe original characters in the famous i Gotham Comedy Quartette. As a , comedian basso his performance is a re- ( velal ion in every respect. Mr Edward Headlatn is recognised as one of London’s leading humorists (of the Melb. B. Spurr type) at the piano. He has recently come from the. great 1 metropolis, where he had been giving recitals at the Queen’s Hall. The tenor vocalist, Mr Selwyn Beeves ■ belonged to the Carl Eosa Opera Com- . piny. His reputation speaks for it_ j s -If. ’ Miss Ida Yerex, the soubrette, late or Max Cohen’s Opera Company, New York, is a dainty artist with a captivating manner, and makes friends with her audience at once. Her voice is sweet and refined. Miss Jenny Bell is the contralto and, Miss Paula de Tries, the pianist. Having played here “ The Frolics,” proceed to Hamilton en route to Wellington an,d a six months tour of the Dominion.
