Opening of Parliament
Wellington, June 9. Considerable suspense has beeu caused by the announcement that the oj. euing of Pa liamont by a Commission to morrow Will take place at 11.30 a.m,, instead of at the time-honoured hour of 2.30 pm. It is suggested that after the delivery of the Governor’s speech the Piime Minister will urge the immediate carrying on of the business, and Parliament will be asked to commence the Address-in-Reply debate on Friday night, instead of adjourning till Tuesday, end membe-s wi’l be asked to break another l ule. a id sit on Saturday and Monday. If i ha'- p’< po.sal is put to the vote it will be cai.h-d, as the Givernment has apparen ly been hardened up sufficiently by the Opposition, who express themselves as objecting to any such exhibition of undue haste. The Opposirion will al-o have a good deal to say about the proposal to expend appropriations until the 31st October This, they U "ge, will qbvl ite the necpssify of Government bringing the Imprest Supply Bill fo" nearly a iponth after Parliament meets aga n, and tlius shelve financial discussion for an undue period. It is probable, therefore, that the Deposition lyill endeavour to extract a premise from the Government to bring down the Imprest Supply Bill at an earlier date*,
