Death of Mr Edwin Edwards
The many Te Aroha friends of Mr Edwin Edwards, an old resident of Paeroa, died at the Waihi Hospital on Monday night. Deceased, who had resided in Paeroa for over 20 years, had been in very bad health for the past twelve months. Mr Edwards was the founder of the Obinemuii Gazette newspaper, and for some years occupied the editorial chair.. fie was a proiuineut man in local politics, having been at various times chairman of the Ohinemuri County Council. Ohinemuri River Board, the old Bay of Plenty Licensing Committee, and a number, of various other local bodies At the time of his death he was chaiiman of the Paeroa School Committee and a member of the committee of the Ohinemuri Agricultural and Horticultural Society.. Mr Edwards was an authority on mining matters, and was thoroughly acquainted with the Ohinemuri goldfields. He was born in Loudon, aud died at the comparatively early age of 47 years He leaves a wife and three sons aud two daughters.
