Alleged Bribery.
OIIINEMURI LICENSING CASE. DEPUTATION TO DR. FINDLAY. Auckland, May 20. A deputation of fifty leading citizens, including a number of the clergy and ladies, waited upon the AttorneyGeneral this morning, and urged the Government not to allow the matter of the bribery allegations in connection with the election of the Licensing Committee in Ohinemuri some years ago, to drop upon the decision of the Court of Appeal. Dr. Eindlay, speaking as Minister of Justice, said that he had done all he could in the matter. The deputation could adopt one of two courses. They could plaoe the facts before the police, who would take action if a prima facie case were made out, or they could take action themselves if the police were in doubt. He would refer the question to the Crown Solicitor.
