Te Aroha Rifle Club.

| A MEETING of the above C ub was held in Mr Reid's rooms on Mondiy evening last when (here were preien' :-*-Messrs j Wild, Burton, McKee (3), f-tanley, Belcher, Mlonunn, Biggr, Bru;;, Jones, i and Beswick (hon. Sec.). ! Minutes of previous meeting were read j and confirmed. The President (Mr Wild) reported that ,ho had had an interview with Major Clifford in reference to range, mutters. It was resolved that material be purchased for the erection of a target shed, and carted out to the rifle range. The Secretary was authorised to arrange matters with Mr Fred M'ickie. On the motion of Mr Burton, seconded by Mr Belcher, Mr Wild was deputed . to meet Capt. Tatteisall and arrange site for shed. Election of Officers. — Mr Wild proposed, and Mr Beswick seconded, and it was carrif d unanimously that Mr Burton be elected President of the Club for the ensuing year. Mr Beswick was re-appointed Secretary. The retiring President read out and explained the different practices laid down in the regulations for the ensuing; year, and it was decided to take them in rotation. —Members’ Subscriptions.— For the information of members it was decided that the amount of subscriptions due be stated on parade cards. —A Protest. — It was unanimously resolved that a letter be sent to the “ New Zealand Herald” protest'ng against the statemerit contained in that reaper regarding the uselessness of rifle clubs. —General Committee. —

The following members were appointed as a General and Shooting Committee, with the President and Secretary ex officio: Messrs Mclnman, G. McKee, F. Wild. W. Biggs and J. R. Stanley.

—Practices.Mr George McKee was appointed to take charge of Wednesday’s practices. —Challenge to P M.R.— It was resolved on the motion of Mr Wild, seconded by Mr Mclnman, that a challenge be issued to the Piako Mounted Rifles to tire a match with the Club on Empire Day, 24th May. Ranges, 500 and GOO yards, 5 shots with optional sighter at each range.
