Mr M. Thompson, music teacher, etc., who has been resident in this district for some time, has decided to leavo Te Aroha, having received an appointment at Hamilton. Mr and Mrs 'lhompson, during their residence here have made many friends, and their departure will be much regretted. Mr Thompson is organist of tit. Mark’s Church, and whose place it will be hard to fill. There are covers and covers just as there are eggs and eggs. The 'Paeroa bowling team that travelled to Waihi on Saturday afternoon for the purpose of playing for the Goldfields challenge stars was successful in its mission, and returned home with the coveted trophies. The Paeroa players showed remarkably good form, and they defeated Waihi by 23 points to 11. Paeroa was by Forrest, Towers, McWatters, and Bromwich There was a good attendance at the Piako Rugby meeting at Waihou last evening. The balance-sheet was read and adopted, and showed the funds to be in an exceedingly satisfactory condition, thanks to the energetic and painstaking secretary (Mr Rice). Reports are to hand that the Piako district has lately been visited by the representative of a Southern land company with object of examining as to the quality of the land and as to whether it was suitable for settlement. We unders'and that as the result of the examination the representative, a thoroughly practical man, was wcU satisfied and his report to his principals will be a favourable one.
