Te Aroha Choral Society.
A well -attended meeting was held on Tuesday evening in the Band Eoom f >r th" purpose of f irmiug a Choral Society, the Eev. Mr Blair being voted to the chair.
Mr Raynor pr oposed and the Eev. Clearoy seconood : “ Thar wo found a Musical Society; to be known as the Te Aroha Choral Society.” The f illowing officers were elected : Patrons: —Messrs Herries M.H.R,, E, L Somers. President: Eev. W. C. Blair.
Axford, Kenny. Messrs Brodie & Reid and Mis Cleary. Secretary and Treasurer : Mr C. E. Scott.
Conductor : Mr Raynor. Deputy Conductor : Mr Blair. Pianist : Mrs Blair. Librarian ; Mr F. Harris.
The following were elected as a Coturaiit e : - Mrs Dr. Axford. Cleary and Messrs Gahagau and Seccembe, tog ’ther with officers and ex-officers. It was decided to fix the subscrip** thus at gents, 5s ; ladies, 2s 6d; hm. members, ss. The members resolved to meet each Tuesday at 7.30 for practice, the place of meeting to be left to the Committee. First practice to take place next Tuesday. A vote of thanks to the chair conclude.! the meeting'.
At the close' of the meeting the Committee met and discussed several matters, The drawing up of rules was left in the hands of a sub-com-mittee consisting of the Presidmt, Conductor, and Secretary. The selection of music for the first practice was left in the hand of the conductor and pianist.
