A New York Marthon.

40,000 SPECTATORS

New York, April 4. The “ Marthon Derby ’ was run on Saturday, and drew 40,000 spectators. The greatest long distance runners of the world were amongst the runners. The winner, first 5000 dollars, Saint Yves, the French runner Dordando, virtual winner of “ Marthon ”at the Olympic game, finished second, winning a prize of '4,500 dollars. Other competitors including Tom Longboat, Canadian Indian, J. J. Hayes, winner of the Olympic Marthon, A. A. Shrubb, English distance champion. Mat Maloney, American runner, who has challenged Longboat and Shrubb.
