WAIHOU v WAIORONGOMAI This mateh was played at Waiorongomai on Saturday and resulted in a win for the visitors by eight runs, time admitting of only one innings each being completed. The wicket was very sticky from the recent rains and the outfield wui heavy. The home (team batted first and had lost 8 wickets for 16 runs when H. Holland (29), assisted by T. Donovan (26), put a different complexion on affairs, and the innings resulted in 73 runs. Waihou then went to the wickets and A. Forrest soon got going, and put on 25 runs before he was bowled by D. Beeson. Nine of the Waihou wickets were down for 65 runs but J. Comerford, who had been batting well and made 25, and W. F. Ross, safely carried the score past Waiorongomai’s total of 73, the innings closing for 81. H. Holland, 4 wickets for 24 and M. George, 3 for 17, were the most successful of the bowlers for the home team. V. Beeson 0 for 6, A. McGover 0 for 12, and D. Beeson 2 for 14 were the other bowlers. Bowling for the visitors, J.Comerford showed good form, taking 7 wickets for 17. E. J. Weir took 2 for 14, A. Bell 1 for 9, W. F. Ross 0 for 16, and F. llbert 0 for 8.
