Burglaries at Morrinsville
PREMISES OF MESSRS J. 0. R. WATTS AND CUMMER BROS. ENTERED.
A MILD sensation was caused on Sunday morning when it became known that Mr J. C. Watts’ and Messrs Gummer’s premises had both been broken into during the previous night. They had evidently entered Watts’ first by breaking a pane of glass and unfastening the window. Being hardware it was not to their taste, so taking a hammer they started operations on Messrs Gummer’s, breaking the large window in the drapery portion of the store only to find it was boarded in. They then smashed the skylight over the main door, and got away with thirty shillings in stamps and about £1 in change which was left in the till. Later. At 12.30 Constable Lowry arrested a young man in connection with the affair.
