Heavy drauchfs sold at from £25 10s to £34 ; medium do, £l9 10s to £3O; hacks £l6 to £23 os; light harness horses, £8 as to £l6; butchers’ and bakers’ cart horses, £ls to £24 ; ponies, £3 to £7 10s ; sj ring-cart, £9. A draft of 20 medium draughts and light horses from Okaliukura averaged £25 l()s each • . • . •
We held our first sheep fair of the season at the Otahuhu Yards, when upwards of 14,000 sheep and rams were yarded. There was a large attendance and all classi-s of sheep sold well. Young ewes sold at from 11s Od to 17s 3d ; aged do., 5s 6d to 11s; four and six-tooth do., 12s 6d to 17s 3d ; wethers, 10s to 15s 3d ; lambs 4s to 10s 9d. Rams : Lincolns, guineas to 5j guineas ; English Leicesters 1 guinea to 4 guineas ; border Leicesters, 2 guineas to 3£ guineas ; Shropshire do., 1 guinea to 5 guineas ; Romney do , 2 guineas to 5.V guineas Pen of pure-bred Lincoln ewes from Mr J. R. McElwain and Mr C T, Barriball, of Waiuku, sold at 2 guineas each. A number of different classes of rams in low condition sold at from 10s 6d to £l/
At Pukekobe on Wednesday there was a full yarding of stock of all descriptions, which sdd at late rates, Dairy cows sold at from £4 to £7 10s ; heifers, £3 5s to £6 10s ; empty cows, £2 Is to £3 ; calves, 15s to £1 18s ; yearlings, £1 8s 6d to £1 19s ; two to three-year old do, £3 2s Od to £5 ss. Beef was yarded in large numbers and sold at Newmarket rates-
Cattle : —At the Newmarket Yards on Tuesday cattle of all cescription were yarded in full numbers Dairy cows sold at from £3 17s G 1 to £9 ; heifers, £3 5s to £5 5s ; empty cows, £2 to £2 17s 6d ; calves, lGs to to £1 11s. Fat cattle were in full supply and sold at late rates, oxen selling to 21s per 1501 b and cows 17s to 19s, Steers sold at from £5 15s to £9 15s; cows, £3 10s to £G 17s Gd. Sheep : Sheep were yarded in average numbers at Newmarket on Tuesday and improved in price from Is to 2s'per head Wethers sold at from 12s 3d to 18s Gd ; ewes, 9s to 16s 6d ; hoggets, Is Gd to 12s 9d ; lambs, well fatted, 10s to 14s 3d ; other sorts, 5s to 9s 3d, Pigs: Porkers, 17s Gd to £l - 9s; fcaconsrs, £ll4s to £2 8s; weaners. 5s Gd to 11s. , Wheat: The market is easier at 4s 9d ex store, Maize ; Stocks are very light and price is firm at 4s lOd ex store. Oats : The market is almost bare and is selling freely at 2s 2d, Chaff : Chaff is worth £3 10s ex rail per truck load. Potatoes : Supplies are much in excess of demand and stocks are accumulating. The market is weak at £4 ex store. Bran : Bran is selling freely at £4 15s. Pollard : Pollard is in good demand at £6 15s to £7. Butter : brands, ,Bid -first grade ; farmers’ separator, first 8d to B|d poor 71d to 7|d, Eggs: In good demand at Is 3d, per dozen. 1 Fungus is selling freely at 4|d,
