PROHIBITED PERSONS
(To the Editor.)
Sir, —In the News of February 18th a correspondent refers to the fact of prohibited persons receiving liquor It is only too true. For weeks past such a person has been seen about out - streets in a more or l**ss intoxicated condition. We do not think that the local publicans are t> bln me in this case. Contemptible, loafing creatures, unworthy of the name of men, sponge upon their victims and procure them liquor. If the local authorities cannot prevent such doings, then it is high time that headquarters were consulted. What your correspondent writes regarding the deadness of public spirit in Te Aroha cannot be denied. Is it that being a sort of Government town the 1 eople feel no responsibility ?—I am, etc Observer.
