Te Aroha Jockey Club.

fA meeting of members of the above p Club was held in the Palace Hotel on Monday evening last, when there were present:—Messrs R. L. Somers, Vice-president, (in tne chair), A. W. Edwards, J. B. Johnson, F. Walker, P. Baine, H. Gahagan, W. Dudley, W. R. Allison, and the secretary (Mr E. O. Nash). A good deal of business was transacted, in view of the approaching summer meeting. The tender of the Hamilton Band was accepted. It was resolved to offer the gates and saddling paddock to Mr Mahoney (of Waihi) for the sum of £9O. Failing Mr Mahoney’s closing a local syndicate is prepared to take them over. Mr G. Lewis has secured the publican’s bioth for £35.

Mr W. Dudley, on behalf of the Sub Committee, reported as to the work done on the course and grandstand also as to canvassing. The report was considered a highly satisfactory one. The Secretary reported as to nominations received, etc., which was very gratifying, and augurs well for a good meeting next March.
