EXPENSES OF PLAYERS.
London, January 19. Mr McMahon, manager of the Wallabies (the Australian amateur Bugby team,) speaking at Portsmouth, suggested that in future years the union that visited England or Australia should bear all expenses, thus avoiding objectionable little incidents such as had been raised by the Scottish Union.
ALLEGED PROFESSIONALISM.
“ ARBITRARY DECISION.”
The emergency committee of the English Rugby Union informed the Scottish Union that the matters must be referred to a full committee. Meanwhile they intimate that 3s will be allowed daily for petty expenses, which are not incurred if at home. It is nowise a sotttCe of profit, but merely save the manager the trouble of paying daily small legitimate items, The arbitrary cancellation of the international fixture r n the accusation of professionalism are questions for the International Board, which will be summoned as soon as practicable.
