Own Correspondent, —Funeral—
Thk funeral of the late Miss Nelson took place here on Tuesday on the arrival of the express from Auckland, the deceased having passed away at Whangarei on the Saturday previous, and had been an invalid for some time. Much sympathy is felt for h?r sorrowing relatives and parents who are well-known here by the older residents. The Rev. Cleary con ducted the burial service. Church Meetiugs — • A meeting of the ladies connected with St, Matthew’s Church was held in the Council Chambers on Tuesday afternoon. Rev. P. Cleary presided and explained fihat the meeting was called to devise some means of’ helping to raise funds to build a vicarage-’in Morrinsville. It wqs to hold a sale of work on the first Friday and Saturday ip June, the following ladies were appointed a couimi .tee tp parry it outlNfesdames Cummer BavenSort, James, JAyne, Jones, Seville and Tisses Alien, Hoath, Turnbull, apd Snell. Mrs Spargo was elected secretary, Miss Allen treasurer, and Mesdamey Davenport and Marshall superintendents. Mrs Marshall kindly placed her residence #t the disposal of the committee on one afternoon a week, commencing immediately after the Now Year.
