ANOTHER DRINK TRAGEDY.
To the Editor
Sip,—What more do Hie women of this electorate t" induce them to vote No-License than the awful drink t.agedy at Mangaweka. Here is a i cor wretch so maddened with drink that when asked by bis sufficing wife to ease her pain by altering her position he inflicts tirrible injuries upen her by gashiug at her throat, ha then in a horrible way pu's_an end to bis own life. The probabilities of the evils occurring were all printed out by the temperance people, when in defiance of a large majority of the residents, the Committee granted the license. These cisrs following eaeh other in rapid sue.cssion are about filling up the measure of the tiaffic’s iniquity, and strongly appeal to eve:y voter—man or woinnn, in the in terests of humanity, to end this wretched —soul and body d stroying —business by “striking out the top line” on election day.—l am, etc., John Dukes.
