TAURANGA ELECTION.
[To the Editor.] -—I am pleased Mrs Blencowe and others have corrected Mr J. A. Young, ou . l , 'Y 011 ld be member, as to what he said in addressing the electors at I e Aroha, you reported correctly Mr Editor he did say in reply to the question “ If the Opposition candidate was returned did he think it would keep back the spending of Public Money in the district,” his reply was “In this case it would.” This is on a par with Mr Major at Alton, who said when a vote of confidence was rejected , “ When a district has no confidence in j the Government they will find that the j Government lias no confidence in them, • and it would be to their loss. Liberal Government ! What a curious ear J marked Government candidate Mr Young is, he differs with the Govern- [ ment on the Land Question, condemns the Tourist Department, the Mining and
Native Departments, he condemns the Post Office Department, also' condemns the Government for not giving more money to the Traffic Bridge, Thompson’s and Kainio tracks, and the Cottage Hospital, on the freehold he is against the Government and in favour of the optional Freehold, in fact he is quite an oppositionist. Now three years ago we had Mr Poland in this same hall replying to a similar question asked by Mr W. Heatherington, just as Mr Young has done, yet when elected he turned traitor, and on all questions of freehold voted leosehold. "What guarantee have we, only Mr Young’s word that he will not do so also ? Mr Young slates the Government all round and then asks Electors to'vote for him as a Government candidate. Now in Mr Herries we have his 12 years honourable work for the freehold, mining, agriculture, Native and other interests of the Bettlers of the Dominion. No single tax fads to rob the land of its value, his motto as an oppositionist is Freehold to the Crown Lands settler at the original value, there is no unearned incriraent in land. Then vote for Herries, and vote early.— I am, etc., Te Aroiia Tauranga Elector, ovei- 30 years a Voter.
