We understand that Mr Wm. Dudley has secured the building of a large an un-to-date two storeyed boarding-house for Mrs M. K. Clausen. The work will be commenced almost immediately, and completed in time for the approach-, ing tourist and holiday season. The building is t<> be erected directly opposite the Domain, and it will command a magnificent view of the sanatorium grounds. A deputation waited on Mr_W.PChcpmell, at the Waitoa sale on Friday last, askiug that gentleman to allow him sell to be nominated for one of the seats at the approaching Piako County Counoil election. The petition, signed by s une 140 ratepayers, was handed to Mr Chepmell by Mr W. Mr Chepmell thanked Mr Herries for his kindly remarks, and signified his willingness to allow himself to be nominated.

Persons likely to be invaded by that noxious pest in human form, the sneak thief, are advised to keep their nick-nacks under lock and key, or within the “ getatable ” area of a good bulldog, as the light-fingered gentry referred to has been busily engaged lately during the dark hours of the night in his questionable calling.
Everything new and up-to-date at A. W. Edward’s the ladies’ and gentlemens’ draper and outfitter. —Advt. About three rinks of the Te Aroha Bowling Club, accompanied by president 'Wallace, journeyed to Paeroa on Saturday afternoon in order to be present at the opening in that town. On arrival at the Paeroa station, they were heartily welcomed and escorted to a conch and four in readiness, and driven to the Paeroa domain. The green and the surroundings looked a picture, and a record muster of bowlers were present from far and near. The green was opened in a few appropriate remarks by the President. Gilbert D. Smith, who called upon Mrs Smith to throw the “ jack ” across the green, which she did amid much cheering. Teams were selected to represent the President and Vice-President, and a most enjoyable time was spent, the Vice-President s team gaming the most points. Afternoon tea was provided by the ladies , and the Paeroa Brass band enlivened the proceedings with selections- There were so many visitors present, that very few of the Paeroa bowlers joined in the play, but they busied themselves m looking after the welfare of their guests, and this they accomplished right royally. The •‘bomb-shell” dropped in Par" nell by Mr E. G. B. M®ss, at his political meeting last week, caused a good deal of talk, and the last has not been heard of it by a long way. The names of those receiving the dividend are to be published and scattered broad cast. There is trouble in store for someone. The cheapest draper is A.
