Te Aroha Bowling Club
A meeting of the Committee of the above Club was held in the Domain buildings on Thursday evening last, when there were present: The President (D. McL. Wallace, Esq.), in the chair, Dr. G. G. Kenny, Geo. Sherlock, A. F. Burton, G. F. McGirr, J. T. Maingav and Wm. Mclnmau (hon. secretary). The minutes of the last Committee meeting were read and confirmed, and correspondence dealt with. A letter was read from the Tourist Department, intimating that the green would be open for play on Saturday, October 17 th It was resolvod that the official onening of the bowling green take place in a.fortnight’s time, viz., October 31st., and that the Secretary make the usual arrangements in connection therewithLetters were received from Messrs Carlaw and. Harrison, intimating their willingness to accept position as delegates of the Auckland Provincial Bowling Association. Invitations were received from the following Clubs to their opening ceremonies : Onehunga, Paeroa, Epsom, Mt. Eden, and Ponsonby. A communication was received from the Dovonport Bowling Club inviting the local Club’s support in an endeavour to awaken public interest in the question of “ Alteration of Time,” (i.e., conserving daylight by altering the clock). The circular went on to state that it is only necessary to excite the interest of the sporting and athletic portion of the community, and in very short time the Bill (in N.Z.) will become law, and New Zealand will once again lead the world.—-It was resolved to reply to the effect that the Club does not see its way
to fall in with the proposals. 1 Dr. Kenny and Messrs Wallace and McGirr were appointed a match , Comrritteo. ' The tender of the News was accepted for printing 100 copies of the Rules. A number of new members were ' balloted for and accepted. 1 The Secretary was instructed to call for entries for the Kenny Belt and Champion Cup. 1 It was decided to hold a special general meeting on Monday week for consideration and adoption of rules. i A vote of thanks to the chairman !
