The official opening of the Te Aroha bowling-green has been fixed for 31st inst. The green will, however, be playable as from to-day, 17th Oct. The Rev. J. Dukes will preach in the
Te Aroha Methodist Church to-morrow morning and evening. Subject for evening “ The church in relation to Amusements.”

Mr W. H. Herries, M.P., opened his p litical campaign at Aratiatia last night. The meeting was well-attended. Befo e the meeting closed a number of questions were asked and answered.
This afternoon the opening of the Paeroa bowling- green takes place. About two rinks from the local Club, accompanied by the President of the Club, Mr D. McL. Wallace, intend being present.

Rumours have reached us that milk is being supplied locally from certain unlicensed dairies. We should like to impress on these vendors of milk that there" is a heavy penalty for such proceeding. Every dairy must be registered or legal steps should at once be taken by the Inspector for its suppression.

Mr Salmon his been appointed sub-enumerator by the Agricultural Department for collecting agricultural and pastoral statistices for 1908.
