Matamata Notes.
—The Weather —
A GREAT deal of rain has fallen during the week, and the grass has come on very well. There is every prospect of a good spring for the farmers in this district. —Business Goaheadedness — J. Adams and Co, are erecting weighing machines at the various stations along the line, where they receive the pigs from the farmers. Our local tailor Mr A. Dormer, seems to have been kept very busy since he has been in Matamata. He is working night and day, so as to cope with the trade. —Roman Catholic Church — In the near future we shall see a Roman Catholic Church here, as the members are starting to work with their subscription lists. —A Lecture - The Rev. J. Mackie is giving a lecture on Monday night in St. Andrew’s Church on music. He will be assisted by the choir, with vocal and instrumental items. The chair will be taken by Mr J. Mc'Yiw. A collection will be taken up to help pay for the new hymn book, which is to be introduced into the Church, and on Tuesday night the llev. J. Macliie, gives a , lecture on “ Wit and Humour,” in aid of ! the Sunday school at Waliaroa. —Building—
Mr Abbott has a large amount oi timber on the ground. He is preparin'! for the alterations to his shop.
—Our Creameries—
The settlers at Taurangamona and Mangawhera, seem to be well satisfied, after throwing in their lot with the Te Aroha Dairy Co. and there is not the slightest doubt, but the return at th u end of the year will be scrutinised, by the settlers supplying the A. E. Co’s Creameries. —Anglican Bazaar— The members of the Anglican Churcli are working v ry bard for the bazaar, which is to ’be held next month, to help to pay off the debt, which is on the Church.
