The clerk of the Hungahunga Drainage Board (Mr F. W. Wild) has a notice in this issue respecting the proposal to borrow £4OOO for the further construction of drainage works for the drainage of the Hungahunga Drainage district.

The many Te Aroha friends of Mr Jack Kennelly will regret to learn of the death of his young wife, which sad event took place Sunday night at Warkworth Hotel.

The railway department advise that holiday excursions will be issued from any station to Hamilton from Thursday Bth Oct. to Saturday, 10th Oct. available for return up to and including Saturday, 10th, in connection with the Band Contest at Hamilton, on the Bth, 9th, and 10th October. •

The grand march will start at 8.30. The catering has been entrusted to Mr P. Dierek, in whose hands it will doubtless be well looked after. Mr Mclnman’s orchestra (five) will supply the dance , music, which should prove something above the average. In addition to the , prizes already mentioned, Mr A. W. Edwards has given a special prize of one . guinea. i The Te Aroha Fire Brigade have dc- , cided to hold a field day at Te Aroha on New Year’s Day, and a strong committee has been appointed to work the matter up. Our Fire Brigade deserve all the support we can extend them, and doubtless plenty will be forthcoming.'
