Wesleyan Choir Social.

The Public Hall was well-filled on Wednesday evening last, when the members of the above choir provided one of their successful socials. the evening’s entertainment took the form of competitions in bed making, ladies’ potato race, bun eating for boys, lightening calculation races, etc., interspersed with musical and vocal items. The impromptu speech competition was well con'estcd and proved a close finish between Ist and 2nd.

The following musical programme was rendered: —Violin solo, Mr Alf Sherlock; cornet duet, Messrs T. Donovan and L. Buchan ; song, Mr Binstead ; selection, Mr Mclnman’s orchestra ; song, Mr Dennison; selection by Mr Mclnman’s orchestra.

The various competitions resulted as follows : Bed-making for men, Mr Markwiek; ladies’ nail driving, Mrs G. Sherlock; Impromptu speeches, Mr Raynor ; ladies’ potato race, Mrs Caldw<d lightening calculating. Miss B. 3 ...k «, lemon e king, Mr Sccombe; bun eating for boys, E. McCartney. Misses Stanley, McCartney, and Salt played the accompaniments.
