Miller for defendants, After considerable time wap spent on tfle case, and evidence the S.M., reserved his ‘decisioq tiil next Court day, I 26th October.

H. Brunton, licensee of tfioWaiorongomai Hotel, pleaded guilty, through his solicitor (Mr Gilchrist) tq allowing a prohibited person tq reup/in op his premises. Mr Gilchrist said that t}ao prohibited parson. waß there opt qf sympathy ; that he hud been suffering from some illness and was making arrangements to consult a dootor. He knew the admission of guilt meant a heavy fine, even if the minimum fine was inflicted, but still the fact remained, The S.M. inflicted a penalty of £o, but realised the awkward position that Brunton was in, in taking the man in with feelings of sympathy. He would not allow costs and also thelicense would not be endorsed. Frank Trainer was charged with accompanying the prohibited person into the hotel. He pleaded guilty and stated that ho did so to obtain a few shillings from the liconsec, with the idea of obtaining medical comforts for Payne. The S.M. said Trainer had committed a technical breach, and inflicted a fine of os, with 14s 6d costs.
