Hanghunga Drainage Beard Loan.

PEOPOSED NEW WOEKS. The excellent work carried out by most Drainage Boaids, and that of thoHungahunga Hoard in particular, is recognised on all sides. Without drains very little work of a lasting nature is possible. Up to the present excellent work has been done and the money available spent to the best possible advantage, and whereas the total increase of drainage rates has not averaged more than abqut 2s (id per acre, the land has increased in value to the extent of between £4 and £o per acre. This speaks volumes At the Hungahunga Drainage Board meeting on Saturday last it was decided to raise a further loan under “The Local Bodies Loans Act,” for the further construction of new drainage works, viz., to cleanse, widen, and deepen existing water-courses, drains, and outfalls for water, and to make and construct new water-courses, drains, and outfalls. The proposed security for the loan shall be a special annual recurring rate for forty-one years of one-half penny per pound upon the capital value of rateable property in the district, providing interest at 3.J per cent. The contemplated works and their estimated cost are as follows :
