Mangaiti Social.

A GREAT SUCCESS.

The Mangaiti Schoolroom was crowded to overflowing on Friday evening last, when the first of a series of Socials, for the purpose of purchasing an organ, was held. No less than forty journeyed down-from Te Aroha, Messrs Johnson and Gwillim running a special brake, in addition to buggies, etc. The programme was gone through without a hitch. The Rev. P. Cleary presided. The entertainment was opened with a pianoforte selection by Mr Wharton Tnompson, accompanied by Mr T. Donovan (cornet). Songs were rendered by Mrs Wigg (Te Aroha), Miss Cairns (Auckland), Miss Butcher and Messrs Binstead, H. Morse, W. Maingay, R. Phillips, Itev. P. Cleary; and a song and haka by Mr T. Rowe : cornet solo by Mr T; Donovan, pianoforte accompaniment, Miss Salt ; recitation, Miss C. Whisker. Excellent dance music was provided by the ladies and gentlemen present. Refreshments were supplied by the ladies, to which full justice was done, The entertainment reflects the greatest credit on the Secretary (Mr Mace) and the Committee of management. The Rev. P. Cleary thanked the visitors on behalf of Mangaiti for their presence there that night; and congratulated Mangaita on the successful issue to which they had brought their social
