Domain Bowling Green

We were pleased to be able to chronicle in our last issue that Cabinet had sanctioned the spending of £250 on the Te Aroha Bowling Green. This sum will doubtless tide over the calamity that was staring local bowlers in the face, as the present green is far from what it should be. A short time ago Mr Burton, Secretary of the local Club, telegraphed to Mr Poland, MP., asking him to ascertain if the Premier’s promise re construction of the Bowling Green was to be redeemed. Yery littlei time appears to have been lost by the member for Ohinemuri in attending to the wishes of his Te Aroha friends, as shortly after Mr Poland received the following letter (a copy of which was sent to the Secretary of the local Bowling Club) from the Prime Minister’s Office :—“ Dear Sir, —Referring to your representations relative to the reconstruction of the Bowling Green at Te Aroha, I have pleasure in informing you that Cabinet has authorised a vote of £250 for the work. I return herewith the telegram sent to you by Mr Burton, of Te Aroha, on the subject.” We trust our next Parliamentary representative will be as much alive :o our requirements as Mr Poland has proved to be in this matter.
