Te Aroha Fire Brigade.

ANNUAL MEETING

The annual meeting of the Te Aroha Fire Brigade, was held in the’ Brigade’s * shed on Monday evening .last. There was a good muster of members, some 16 of all ranks; Qrs. Spence, Annan, Devey, Jackson, and Mr P, W, Wild (Town Clerk) were also Yin attendance. Captain Pilkington presided, j. In the absence of the Secretary, Fireman D. Wallace officiated.

. The minutes of the previous meeting read and confirmed.

j The balance-sheet for year ending' 7th July was read, the receipts being '£ss r s s 6d, and the expenditure* £4B 7s id, leaving a balance in hand of ”£7, 3s .sd. The balance-sheet was adopted. The election of officers resulted .: — Captain P. Pilkington, -re-elected; Lieut.vW.,Everett, re-elected ; Foreman J. Walsh, re-elected ; J. Jennings was elected senior branchman. The elected returned thanks.

_ The business of the evening being' 'disposed of, those present retired to partake of refreshments.' Councillor Spence presided, and apologised for Mayor’s absence. Several" toasts were . honoured, interspersed withsongs, recitations, etc., by,. Captain Pilkington, Lieut, Everitt, Firemen Cribb, Jennings (2), Hill;' Buchan, Devey, and Caretaker Maxwell, Os. Devey, Spence, Jackson; and Mr, F. Wild. . -- .

A most enjoyable evening was spent by those present, and was brought to a conclusion by the ing of Auld Lang Syne.
