—Town Board— • The ordinary monthly meeting of the Town Board was held on Thursday evening, all the members being present. The minutes were read and confirmed,'' The valuation roll was laid on the table. Outward correspondence Was approved and inward . correspondence dealt with. Letter'. from Mr Dignan • requesting permission to erect a verandah in Thames street and one- in Canhda-street in front of his property.—Decided 'that'> Ml verandahs be 12 feet wide. Mr Dignan’s request was granted subject to the Board’s approval. Mr Mackenzie "wrote requesting access to ,his. property, in. Mporehouse Steet.— Left .with, Works Conunittee, with power to act. - ■ .

Letter from - Health Department, stating that the Inspector’s services were available on payment bf ten pounds.— Received. . . ;, ;

Ngaruawhia Town Board -wrote asking if they would confer re appointing .an engineer to carry out . works in the town districts in the Waikato.—Members considered- »that- there Was very little work that required an engineei-’s service, and it was decided to, reply that they were not in favour of the scheme. ■

Report of Foreman of Works was considered and .works detailed for the coming months;,; Discussion re drain in northern portion of Studholme-street, which is not on proper line, the ; foreman to give estimate of cost of new drain at nex,t meeting. Decided that owners of property pay for material used in putting in crossin'g -giving access to same, the work being dbne by Board’s workmen. The foreman was instructed to effect temporary repairs to footpath around the square leading to the railway station. ’ • (From Bank" of New Zealand acknowledging deed of dedication. —The Clerk was’ instructed to ascertain if the sum of £SO0 u .payable by the Bank had been ’placed to the Board’s credit.

Decided to procure two trucks of Te Kuiti limestone to be used by the Fore- , man in the worst places.. In the •matter of piping the main drain in the central portion of Thames-street as mentioned in the Foreman’s report, the Foreman was instructed to report on the cost at next meeting. A special meeting to adopt bye-laws and. consider the establishment of a pound was fixed for Thursday next, 23rd July. ,! Accounts to the amount of fifty-one pounds were passed for payment. (Saturday after each monthly meeting wns"fixed as pay day. I —Hockey Match — *

The Hockey Match played here on Saturday afternoon between the Morrinsville Ladies’ Hockey Clubs, resulted in a win for Rotorua by one goal to nil. The game was a most interesting one, and Mr Bryers gave every satisfaction /is referee. The. visitors returned by the express.. The local ladies pay a visit to Waihou on Wednesday, when it is hoped they will notch a win. : —St. John’s Ambulance Classes—

. There is every appearance of a good number joining the St. John’s Ambulance Classes about to be started here.

Native Land Court—

.. There was a fair number of natives in Town attending the Land Court, Avhich is being held in the Phoenix Hall. It is expected a good number will arrive during •the week. , \ \ •
