THE WEDDEL CUP.

Tim annual meeting of the Dairymen’s Association was held at Hamilton last week, Mr D. J. McGowan (president) being in the ■ . chair. / ■ : Amongst those elected on the , executive committee for the ensuing year are .Mr W. Dixon (of Paeroa) and Mr A. J.'Scobie (of Whangarei, and formerly of Paeroa). The essay competition on “The Care and Treatment of Milk from the Cow to the Factory,” was won by Mr F. Thomson, of Waverley, Mr A. Scobie, of Whangarei, being second. The result of the Weddell Cup competition was announced. The conditions for the competition are that the cup is to be allotted to the 1 factory securing the highest aggregate number of points in the export butter, class throughout the season from October, 1907, to March, 1908. Eighteen factories competed, the cup being won by the Bay of Islands j Co-operative Company (92.50 points) the Thames Valley Company coming a good second (91,81 points). It will be remembered that the Weddell Cup was won by the Thames Valley Company last year, and the manager (Mr W. Dixon) and the shareholders are to be congratulated on being again so near the coveted honour.
