School Committee.

The usual monthly meeting of the Te Aroha District School Committee was held in the Schoolhouse on Monday evening last. Present; Messrs R. L, Somers (in the chair), D. McL. Wallace, Rev. Dukes, E. Devey, J. T. Maingay and G. Sherlock, secretary. Minutes read and confirmed, inward and outward correspondence dealt with.

—School Cleaning— The Secretary reported that during the interim he had been successful in making arrangements for cleaning of the school.

—Time of Meeting— Rev. Dukes moved his notice of motion, that future meetings of the Committee be held on the second Monday in each month, commencing at 7.30 p.m. —Carried. —Assistant Teacher —

In consequence of Miss Ray’s resignation, owing to ill-health, the Committee was invited by the Board to recommend a teacher from the names submitted.—lt was resolved to recommend Miss Frances H. Fawcett.

—Fleet Week—

It was resolved to forego the Michaelmas holidays, and close the school during Fleet Week. —Repairs, etc.— was left to the Visiting Committee io carry out certain repairs to the flagstaff, horozontal bars, etc.

■ —Recognition—

It was resolved on the motion of the Rev. Dukes, seconded by Mr Somers, that a letter be forwarded to Miss Ray, regretting her illness and consequent resignation from the teaching staff. The Committe »• -ully recognise the long and faithful service rendered by Miss Ray to the Te Aroha District School. —Reports—

The quarterly reports for three months, ending June 30th, were laid on the table, and proved to be highly satisfactory. Good work is being done both in the secondary and primary departments. The attendances averages well considering the winter months.
