Dairy Conference.
——M ASSOCIATIONS FINANCIAL POSITION.
PALMERSTON NORTH, June 24 The Conference of the National Dairy Association was commenced to-day, Mr Foreman, president, and delegates from all parts of the Dominion being present. The Chairman, in the course of his address, congratulated the Association <?n its financial positien, pointing out that the credit balance was £ll4O in excess of last years. He referred to the approaching return of Mr Cuddie, dairy commissioner, expressing the wish that he might have arrived in time for the conference. Mr Mackay, ‘ who had been sent Home, had been picking up considerable information regarding the distribution of produce, which would be of assistance.
There was a very long discussion as to whether the Dairy Association should affiliate with the Employers* Federation so as to be better fitted to meet the demands of the dairy factory workers’ dispute, in connection with which is now proceeding in the district.
Mr W. Pryor, secretary of the Federation, addressed the Association on the benefits of affiliation, and it was eventually decided ,to recommend the executive of the Association to affiliate with the Federation.
Several speakers denounced the town agitators who fpstered the dispute that occurred in the country, it being pointed put that the trouble was caused by wasters and not workers.
The New Zealand Butt&r Factory Managers and Association also met this evening. "
