Morrinsville Town Board.
The ordinary monthly meeting of the Town Board was held in the Council Chambers on Thursday evening. There Avere ipresent Messrs Manuel, Marshall, Pickett, and Parlour.
Mrs Grimmer sent an apology for being absent. The Chairman, Mr Allen, being aAvay, Mr Mannel Avas voted to the chair. Minutes of previous meeting read and confirmed, also minutes of special meeting held'to consider bye-IaAVS Avere also confirmed.
Outward correspondence approved. Letter from New Zealand Acytelene Gas Cornpay recommending their gas for street lighting. Received. Clerk reported having received the license fee for the sum of £4O for the Nottingham Castle Hotel, and haA r ing paid same into Bank. Telegram from Registrar-General re estimated population.—Clerk reported that matter had been attended.
Clerk reported barfing taken ont a policy with the Noav Zealand Accident Insurance Company for £3OO, insuring Board’s Avorkwen.
Accounts totalling £55 15s 8d were passed for payment. Bank of Ncav Zealand fonvarded deed of dedication for the roads Avithin the Town boundary for the Board’s signature. Commissioner Pickett proposed, and Com. Parlour seconded that as .this matter had been so long delayed, and a number Avere Avaiting 1 for their titles, that it be signed by the members present and the Board’s seal affixed. —Com. Manuel proposed and Com. Marshall seconded that it bo left until all members are present.—The amendment Avas carried on the Chairman’s casting vote. —The Clerk avus instructed to arrange to get the members together as soon as possible.—Resolved that a rate of three half-pence in the £ be struck.— Messrs Pickett and Parlour wore i instructed to sign the rate hook.—A plan of the road on the Morrinsville extension No. 1 was handed in for the Boards use.
A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Messrs Pickett and Manuel for theii efforts in getting the thirty subscribers te the Telephone as required by the department.
The Foreman’s report showed that the Avork in connection with the ucav roads was approaching completion. The Clerk was instructed to again approach Sir J. G. Ward re the grant promised for drainage. Decided to endeavour to get a key to the building for the use, of the Clerk.
