An epidemic of whooping cough is raging at Mangaiti. The school attendance is suffering in consequence. Builders are reminded that the time for receiving | tenders for the printing office, Paeroa, has been extended to Saturday, June 20th, up to 5 p.m. Presbyterian Church Concert takes place in the Public Hall, to-morrow [Wednesday) evening. A first-class programme has been arranged, and a good attendance is expected. All sorts of pastes and liquids have been placed on the market, for polishing linoleum and furniture. Beef sold irregularly, some making 22s per lOOlbs, while other ox beef did not fetch more than 19s. Grown store cattle were dull of sale but young steers were keenly competed for, yearlings fetching up to £2 9s. Dairy cows improved in price, good heifers fetching from £4 to £5. Fat sheep sold well, wethers fetching 225; good store lambs sold up to 10s 9d. It is considered that if the yarding accomodation were better this sale would be the leading one in the district, but unfortunately the stock is often so crowded that it does not appear to advantage. When you spend money, and expend labour on your linoleum, you like to see it well kept and preserved. You don’t like to see it spoilt and made to look shabby.
