Railway Accident
On Saturday morning last Bruce Cumming, the boy .engaged delivering the country run of the News, met with a somewhat serious accident. Various reports are rife as to how the accident occurred, but it appears that while riding along Grattan’s road and nearing the railway crossing, the horse bolted and ran into the outgoing train as it was passing. The horse struck the guard’s van with considerable force, and threw the boy some distance. The train was pulled up and young Ciunming, who was unconscious, taken on baard. First aid was rendered by Guard Madigan, and the lad was taken on to the Hamilton Hospital for treatment, where it was found he was suffering from slight concussion. The lad is progressing favourably.
Wc regret that many of our subscribers did not receive their Saturday’s paper, as the bag containing the papers was taken on to Frankton Junction.
