Waitoa Church Concert

A grand concert, in aid of the Trust Funds of the Waitoa Methodist Church, took plaoe on Wednesday evening last. There was a very good attendance, and the Eev Dukes occupied the chair. The concert must live in the minds of the people who were lucky enough to be present. A clean elassic entertainment, and to specialise any particular performer would be invidious. The following is the pro* gramme Piano and Flute—Miss Stanley and Mr Eaynor. A splendid performance somewhat marred by the piano not being in tune. Song,—“ Nancy ” Master Fisher. A good voice and a good rendering. Songs—Mrs Mathieson, “Rest” and “ Angel of Rest.” Nicely sang with good expression. Comet Solo—Mr Tom Donavan, “Once Again.” A fair performance of this lovely solo. We commend this class of musß-.te our local artists. ' . Recitations —Mr Sec combe, A. Both Christening,” “ The Man from Snowy River,” and “ The Gee Bung Polo Club;” a local M. B. Spurt. Congratulations Mr Seccombe oa your fine dramatio effort. Song—Mr Binstead, >“ Three, for .Jack.” Jack is indeed lucky that be has such a fine petitioner as Mr Binstead. This gentleman also sang “ Oh Memory,” and gave that fine old recitation “Mr Hubbard,” in splendid style. Pianoforte Solo—Miss Fisher. Wellplayed on an untuneful piano. Song—Rev. Dukes. An old time song of an elevating and refining character, that aroused all our patriotic sentiments. Songs— Mrs Anr.an. Well sang with good expression. Miss Jennings made a capital accompanist. Banjo Selection —Mr Parkas. Nice and tuneful but not long enough to please the audience.

Song—Mr Raynor, “ Queen of the Earth.“ A good performance. We congratulate Mr Eobt. Lamey, hon. secretary, and the Committee for the highly successful entertainment provided; amd we are pleased to note that 'their untiring efforts were crowned with success.
