WEDDINGS
The marriage of Miss Gladys Wfey Burgess, only daughter of Mr |e.' Burgess, of Hamilton, to Mr J.:T. Merry, of Te Aroha, was celebrated on Thursday, 7* inst., at the residence of the bride s P a . rent ®* hp %j° e t D. Mill officiated. The bnde, who was given awayby her father, wore a pretty dress of ivory ch ffon taffeta trimmed with silk Maltese lace, and a tulle veil.and wrea h of. orange blossoms. Miss C. Wilson acted as bridesmaid, and wore a dress of pale green voile trimmed with silk and passementme. Mr-A. W. Green accompanied the bride groom as best man. After the wed* ~ ding breakfast Mr and Mrs Merry, left for Cambridge, the bride wearing a pretty brown costume and begonia shaded hat.
St. Mary’s Church, Hamilton East, was tastefully decorated on Wednesday, May 6th . the ‘occasion being the marriage of Miss Eveline Bell, only daughter of Mr T. C. Bell, late of the Thames, to. Mr George de Vere Chitty, second son of Mr w. Chitty, of Brooklyn. The bride was given away by her father, and r ® a handsome dress of ivory chiffon taffeta, effectively trimmed with Irisft lace and orange blossoms, and coro- • net of orange blossoms, over which fell a beautiful veil of old Limerick lace, which had previously been worn by her mother and grandmother at their bridals, and she carried a beautiful bouquet. Misses Katie and Muriel Chitty and Miss Eileen Cussen were the bridesmaids. Miss Katie wore a dainty dress of white mousseline de soie trimmed with lace and insertion relieved with pale blue velvet, and white hat, and sne carried a bouquet of roses and autumn foliage. The latter coupe wore pretty frocks of pale blue mousseline de soie, and white batSg and carried baskets of flowers and autumn foliage. Mr Carroll Cussen was best man, and Mr Aubrey Chitty groomsman. After the . wedding breakfast, served at the residence _ot the bridegroom’s father, Mr and Mrs Chitty left for Rotorua, the bnde travelling in a tailor-made costume of reseda green cloth, and hat to correspond. . ,
A very pretty wedding was solemnised in the Roman Catholic Churchy. Howick, on the 29th April, the contracting couple being Mr Archihpd Forsman, second youngest !§o|rof Mr A. L. Forsman, of Waharpa# Waikato, and Miss Delia (Cissy) ' Fitzpatrick, only daughter of Mtf Edward Fitzpatrick, Pigeon Mountain, Pakuranga. The Rev. Father Tormey officiated. The bride looked extremely handsome in a trained dress of creme silk taffeta, trimmed with satin lace, net and ribbon, and wore the customary iwreath and veil. She carried a beautiful shower bouquet, composed of white. cosmea and asparagus fern. The bride was attended by Miss Lotty Finnerly, her cousin, as bridesmaid, and wore a pretty dress of creme corduroy, finished with creme satin, lace and white passementerie trimming, and a white felt hat trimmed with White ribbon and violets. She also carried a pretty shower bouquet, and wore a gold brooch, the present of the bridegroom. The bridegroom was sup- j ported by Mr Bert Fitzpatrick,* cousin of the bride, as best man. After the ceremony a large number of friends were entertained at the residence of the bride’s parents. The presents received were both useful and numerous. After the usual toasts had been honoured, the happy couple left for their future home, the bride wearing a smart wine coloured costume, and wine coloured hat relieved with roses, foliage, ribbon and tulle.
