Borough Council.

A SPECIAL MEETING. A special meeting of the above Council took place on Thursday evening last in the Council Chambers. His Worship the Mayor (R. L. Somers, Esq.,,) occupied the chair, and Crs. Annan, Devey, Jackson and Spence were also present. The. business for which the meeting was called being to confirm the special orders passed at a previous special meeting, (1) To raise £3OOO from the Government towards Council’s cost of erecting new traffic bridge; (2) To strike a special rate as security for the £3OOO loan. On the motion of the Mayor* seconded by Cr Annan* the special orders were confirmed. Several minor matters in eon* nection with the new bridge were touched upon, and the Clerk was instructed to suppiy certain information asked for by intending contractors.
