It will doubtless be good news for many at Matamata, when they learn that Mr Gahagan, of the Economic Te Aroha, has purchased the drapery business at Matamata, lately owned by Mr Manson. A clean sweep sale commences to-day, when a lot of new and serviceable goods will be offered at clean sweep prices. This firm invite residents to keep the money in the district, which is indeed sensible advice, as every pound sent outside is like so much lost money. Gahagan’s values are fast becoming famous. We recommend 1 settlers to give them a trial. The trout fishing season, so far as this district is concerned, is drawing to a close. Throughout the past few months anglers have met with more or less success along the hank of the Waihou, and its tributaries. The fish caught averaged about three pounds, and they were in splendid condition; where the fish lacked in quantity they made up in quality. For some time past a fine sturdy little trout has been sporting itself in an eiddy of the Waihou at the foot of Rolleston-street. Numerous attempts were made by' our local followers of Izaak Walton to secure the prize; but onr finny friend appeared to know too much to get caught. However, one of the more expert craftsmen, in the person of Mr A. Annan, brought his past experience to light, and with a “ fly ” ot the right sort, landed the fish after a few mmutes flue sport. He went to the butcher ; also to the b jeer; He went to the grocer and cabinetmaker ; He even enquired of the new undertaker, And asked the distiller and brewer ! And all of them said That for colfls in the head, And the best for the chest as proven by test Was Woods’ Great Peppermint Cure.
