> KEY. AND MRS REED ENTERTAINED. , On Thursday evening last a social was i held in the Criterion Concert Hall, : as ; a welcome to the Rev. Reed (the new 1 Methodist Minister at Paeroa) and I Mrs Reed. Tie hall was tastefully and there was a good attendance, not only of members of the Methodist Church, but also of those of other denominations. The. Rev. J. Dukes presided, and in addition to the Rev. Reed the others on the stage were the Rev. Gow and Rev. Wrigtey. The J. Rev. Dukes introduced the new minister, and spoke in high terms of his ability as a preacher, and said he trusted that the Rev. Reed’s term of office would be for the benefit of the church and that he and the members of his congregation would work in harmony. Addresses of welcome were also given by the Rev. Gow and Rev. Wrigley, and the Rev. Reed suitably responded. During the evening songs were rendered by Mrs Deaa, Miss M©4* hurst, Miss Bramley, Miss Simm, and Mr Heape, a duet by Misses Simm, and a dialogue by Mrs Raeburn and Miss Marjorie Raeburn.• The accompaniments for the musical items were ( played by Miss Gapill. A number of gramaphone selections were also , rendered on a machine provided by Mr Spry. At the conclusion of the ] evening refreshments were handed ( round, and a successful evening closed ] with t)ie Benediction. <
