The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agenoy Company’s Ltd. weekly report : Horses : • Owing to Friday being Good Friday, we held no horse sale at the Durham Yards. On Thursday we held a special sale of horses at Pukekohe, when we yarded 196 horses. For anything of a decent stamp competition was good. No extra heavy draught horses were yarded. Medium do., sold at from £24 15s to £37; light harness, £l2 10s to £2O 12s 6d ; hacks and cobs, £5 5s to £18; weeds, £2 5s to £5 15s. Cattle: At the Newmaiket Yards on Tuesday there was a moderate yarding of dairy and store stock, and an average supply of beef. Dairy cows sold at from £4 5s to £7 sa; empty cows, £2 10s to £3 6s ; calves, 18s to £1 6s. Bidding for beef was brisk, and last week’s prices ruled, oxen selling to 24s per lOOlbs ; cows, 20s to 225. Steers sold at from £6 10s to £lO 17s 6d ; cows, £4 5a to £7 17s 6d. Sheep : These were yarded in scarcely usual numbers at Newmarket on' Tuesday, and sold at last week’s rates, wethers selling at from 13s 3d to £1 3s 3d ; ewes, 14s to 19s 9d; lambs, 8s 6d to 13s 9d ; store ewes, 8s to 11s 9d.
Pigs: Porkers,£l 6s 6d to £llßs ; weaners, 7b 6d to 12s 6d ; baooners, £2 10s to £3 2s 6d. v At Waiuku on Saturday we had a large muster of stock, which sold at late rates. Dairy cows Sold at from £4 to £6 10a ; empty cows, £2 2s 6d to £3 17s 6d ; grown steers, £4 16s to £5 12s 6d ; calves, 12s to £1 9s. Beef at Newmarket rates.
