Attempt to Derail a Train.

LINE COVERED WITH BALLAST PAEROA, Saturday. Some of the platelayers, noticed yesterday morning that the railway line, about a mile and a-half from Paeroa towards Komata, had been covered in places with the ballast. Possibly the presence of the ballast on the line would have derailed the train, and serious damage might have been caused, as the place where the fins was covered was only about 3ft from one of the bridges; Constable Henry has been informed of the matter.
